The theory behind Cupping is to draw out trapped toxins in the body and enhance the circulation of our blood and the flow of our qi, or energy. Used commonly throughout Chinese history, Cupping is used for conditions ranging from chronic fatigue to back pain and the common cold.
The method uses a glass bulb which is first lit with a flame to create a vacuum. The cup is then placed on the body where to vacuum provides a suction to the region underneath the cup.
Modern day equipment utilizes cups that have bulbs attached to plastic cups; thereby, creating a vacuum without the use of a flame. There is also a magnetic tip to the cup to provide additional stimulus to an acupoint.
A technique used for thousands of years, cupping is based on the principle of drawing out toxins that are trapped in muscles or releasing blockages of energy along the acupoints/meridians.
